NIGER
Niger, officially known as the Republic of Niger, is a landlocked country located in West Africa. The country is bordered by Libya to the northeast, Chad to the east, Nigeria and Benin to the south, Burkina Faso and Mali to the west, and Algeria to the northwest. Niger is known for its vast desert landscapes, with the Sahara covering over 80% of the country's territory. Despite its harsh climate, Niger is rich in natural resources, including uranium, gold, and oil. The country's economy is largely based on agriculture and mining, with the majority of its population relying on subsistence farming. Situated along the eastern banks of the Niger River lies Niamey, the capital and largest city of Niger. The city’s fantastic open-air markets provide ample opportunity for people watching, with the Tuareg Sonuri and Fulani tribes buying and selling colorful fruits and vegetables. While Niger faces challenges such as poverty and political instability, it is also home to a vibrant culture with diverse ethnic groups and languages.
