ZAMBIA & MALAWI
May
14 - May 26, 2023
Led by Lecturer,
Michel Behar

The beautiful country of Zambia has a tropical climate making it the perfect setting for an abundance of natural resources and wildlife including over 200 species of mammals such as the endemic Rhodesian giraffe and Kafue lechwe. In addition, there are more than 750 species of birds - most of which are residents or Afrotopic migrants. This unspoiled destination contains a staggering 20 national parks and 34 game parks that rank among the finest parks in the world offering unforgettable wilderness experiences that will keep you dreaming of Africa for years to come.

Malawi, also affectionately known as “the warm heart of Africa”, may be small in size but is large in diversity. First, there is Lake Malawi, the third largest lake in Africa, and with that comes remote islands, picturesque shorelines, and stunning sunrises and sunsets. Second, there are the mountainous grasslands of Mulanje, Nyika, and Zomba plateaus, and not to mention game-rich national parks and wildlife reserves. Arguably, Malawi’s greatest asset is her people – always ready for a laugh, a little chat, and an impromptu song and dance. This easy-going and warm nature of Malawians is what makes this country one of the safest and most enjoyable places to travel in Africa.

With cities of colonial splendor, a golden coast scattered with balmy beaches, and cuisine packed with sizzle and spice, Mozambique is a magical part of Mother Africa. The charming island town of Ilha de Moçambique (Island of Mozambique) is a destination that is steeped in history - perhaps the best in Mozambique and possibly in all of Africa. Snorkel its turquoise waters for up-close views of the stunning coral reefs and colorful marine life. Kayak through the mangroves, a safe haven for migratory birds, marine turtles, dolphins, and the adorable dugongs. Learn about the Mozambique culture at a local Macua village. Enjoy a leisure boat ride to a deserted beach or participate in a bush night drive and explore hidden caves.
