Ulaanbaatar, its capital, offers a dynamic mix of modernity and tradition, with bustling markets, monasteries, and museums. Beyond the city, the Gobi Desert unveils its stark beauty, featuring the Khongor Sand Dunes and the lush oasis of Yol Valley. Mongolia's culture shines through events like the Naadam Opening Ceremony, showcasing wrestling, archery, and the thrilling Naadam Horse Race. The Flaming Cliffs unveil the secrets of a prehistoric world with dinosaur fossils, while Terelj National Park invites exploration of pristine wilderness, forests, and the iconic Turtle Rock. Mongolia, where past meets present amidst breathtaking landscapes and captivating traditions, promises an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Asian world.

– Parts of the trip are physically challenging, involve hiking on rough terrain or in sand or at high altitudes. There may be very long drives on rough roads, weather conditions with high heat or humidity, and the presence of insects. You may have simple picnic lunches, primitive bathroom facilities along the road and remoteness from modern towns or cities.

LODGING Level:

Comfortable yet on the Spartan side, usually small but generally with private facilities. Some such lodges and motel-style are in need of repairs, added cleaning, and improvements but they are suitable for one-night stays even if they lack western style amenities. (2 or 3 stars)

**** Luxury: Regular style-usually large hotels, typical western standard with ample venues, and full amenities. (4 or 5 stars)
