A world unto itself, New Zealand has a continent’s worth of scenery crammed into its two main islands. It is frequently described as having the most beautiful scenery in the world. Our tour will take you to both islands to experience the highlights of each. This is an activity packed itinerary, yet it allows for some down time to spend relaxing or to set out to discover why this is the number one tourist destination.

Depart your home town, arriving the third day, upon arrival meet and transfer to Spencer on Byron Hotel for check in and having some rest, afterwards head to visit Mount Eden Volcano and enjoy the panoramic view of the city, also visit The Harbour Bridge. Transfer to Orbit Restaurant for a welcoming dinner. (D)
Mon, Nov 20
Head south to discover the Thermal District. First stop is a tour of the Hobbiton Filmset, it’s a village based on the various scenes in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the new Hobbit movies so you have the unique opportunity of touring the set as it is seen in the films. After lunch continue to Rotorua, which lies on a beautiful lake, actually a flooded volcanic crater - the surrounding hills are the remains of the rim of the giant volcano. Rotorua sits squarely on the Pacific Ring of Fire, so volcanic activity is part of the city’s past and present. Visit the tranquil Hamurana Springs a - short peaceful 45 minute loop track will take you via a beautiful clear fresh water spring that attracts abundant birdlife, also visit Kuirau Park which has the largest display of steam and mud pools. Afterwards transfer to Novotel hotel for check in and overnight. (B,L)

After breakfast, head south towards Taupo, visiting the thermal Mud Pools, the bubbling mud that can keep you mesmerized for hours, also visit the Lady Knox Geyser. Then enjoy a short walk through the Wai-o-tapu Thermal Wonderland, the best thermal reserve in the area, a wonderland of orange, green, yellow, blue, white and black pools. Continue to visit the freshwater Prawn Park, apparently the world’s only geothermal prawn farm. Afterwards, you will be invited to sample the prawns in the Riverside Restaurant. After lunch, visit the Huka falls. Also visit Lake Taupo; the world’s largest volcanic crater, created in one giant explosion. The ash cloud floated all over the world, the effects of the ash were even recorded in China and Rome. Transfer to Lakefront apartments for check in, dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

After self-prepared breakfast, start your day with visiting the the Tongariro National Park, enjoy white water Rafting. Continue to the mountains, south of the lake to enjoy a mountain walk. The park lies on a high plateau and encompasses the three volcanoes of Mount Tongariro, Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Ruapehu. Mount Ngauruhoe is surrounded by the rocky grounds of Mordor on Mt Ruapehu. It erupted as recently as 1998. Tongariro National Park was gifted to the New Zealand people in 1887 by the Ngati Tuwaretoa tribe and is now a World Heritage area. Return to lakefront apartments for your overnight. (B)

After self-prepared breakfast, drive south to Wellington via Bulls and the Kapiti Coast. Wellington; which lies central to the two islands and is therefore the capital, visit Mount Victoria and enjoy an awesome view of the city and harbour. Afternoon, if time allows, take the cable car up the steep hill behind the city center then wander back down through the magnificent Botanical Gardens. Also visit the Parliamentary District and the historic St. Paul’s Cathedral. Transfer to Copthorne Oriental Bay hotel for overnight. (B)
Fri, Nov 24
After breakfast, head to Picton; was named after Sir Thomas Picton - a British General killed at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The drive today takes you south via the wine growing region of Marlborough. Blenheim is the wine producing capital of New Zealand. First stop today is at Wairau River Wines to sample their wines. Enjoy a one course a-la-carte lunch with your wines. Continue to Kaikoura; the rugged coast is home to a diverse range of wildlife which gladly poses within camera range. Look for the caravans along the coast selling freshly cooked Crayfish – be sure to ask your chauffeur to stop so you can sample this local delicacy! The first stop in Kaikoura will be the Lookout where you can view the azure-blue waters around Kaikoura Peninsula bordered by the mountain backdrop behind. Afterwards transfer to Bendamere Hotel for check in and overnight. (B,L)
Sat, Nov 25
After breakfast, enjoy a Whale Watch cruise, a unique Whale Watch tour experience. Giant Sperm Whales are the stars of the show and year-round residents. On occasion sightings include Southern Right, Humpback, Fin, Sei, Brydes, Pilot, Southern Bottlenose and the mighty Blue Whales, as well as Common, Hectors and Risso's Dolphins, then continue south to Christchurch, New Zealand's second largest city which sprawls across the Canterbury Plains towards the Southern Alps. The main attractions there are the English style gardens and parks. The city even has its very own Avon River on which one can punt. Unfortunately the city suffered a short but violent earthquake on February 22nd 2011 which devastated many of the heritage buildings including Christchurch Cathedral. Afterwards transfer to Double tree Hotel by Hilton for check in and having some rest, then head to visit some of the city’s attractions on foot and on the Tram, it is a wonderful way to see the city. Possible stops are; the Botanical Gardens along the picturesque Avon River, the temporary Cardboard Cathedral, the Anglican Church, the Canterbury. Afterwards return to your hotel for overnight. (B)

After breakfast, enjoy a daytrip to Akaroa on the southern side of Banks Peninsula. It was created over nine million years of fiery volcanic activity. Originally it was an island, but over the millennia the alluvial rivers have brought down the glacial debris from the Southern Alps, slowly joining the two and creating the Canterbury Plains. If time permits, visit en route Little River Craft Gallery and Barry's Bay Cheese Factory for cheese tastings and the Hilltop Tavern at the summit before heading down to the harbor. Upon arrival at Akaroa enjoy your lunch (on own) then join the Black Cat Dolphin Cruise out onto the harbor. The cruise is fully narrated by your skipper who has extensive knowledge of the nature, wildlife and history of the harbour. There is also the possibility to the “swim with dolphins” – ask your chauffeur to book this for you. Afterwards return to Christchurch via the Gebbies Pass and Lyttelton Harbor and transfer to your hotel for your overnight. (B)

After an early breakfast, head towards the train station to enjoy your journey to the Tranz Alpine, crosses a fertile patchwork farmlands of the Canterbury Plains from the city of Christchurch. The track winds its way over massive viaducts, through spectacular gorges and river valleys following rivers and skirting lakes as it ascends to the settlement of Arthur's Pass. Afterwards head south via the dramatic Otira Gorge. Experience the untamed grandeur of the West Coast region, with wild beaches and rocky outcrops dwarfed by snow-capped mountains. Hokitika is the best place to see the New Zealand Greenstone (jade) being made into ornaments and tiki (pendants). The stone was mainly used for making a lethal weapon that sat snugly in the hand of a warrior. Not to be missed is the glass blowing factory. Afterwards transfer to Westwood Lodge for your overnight. Start your morning with Heli-hike tour, Glacier walking is an amazing experience where you descend into crevices and ice-caves to witness the beautiful blue colour of the ice and hear the creaks of the living glacier. You will be equipped with a raincoat & over-trousers, boots & woollen socks, crampons, gloves & hat. Please note that no backpacks are permitted, they will provide a small waist bag for snack, water & camera.
Please bring; Warm upper body clothing (preferably 3 to 4 layers), Leggings or light trousers (no jeans as they get cold when wet) shorts are acceptable in summer, Sunglasses (essential against the glare of the snow & ice), Sunscreen (you burn much quicker in the snow), Waterproof jacket (one will be provided if you don't have one). Enjoy the extraordinary colours of the ice-flow from above and then up close, on an unforgettable guided walk. Your professional guide will lead you into the most spectacular icefall terrain that is usually seen only by experienced mountaineers. With a spotless safety record, rigid assessments, and using exclusive quality equipment. Afterwards head south to the village of Fox Glacier and enjoy a short walk around the Lake Matheson. Continue South crosses over the Main Divide at the Haast Pass. Stops may include; Knights Points, the Roaring Billy, Thunder Creek Falls, and Gates of Haast. Upon arrival at Wanaka, which lies on a tranquil lake, transfer to Te Wanaka Lodge for check in and overnight. (B)

After breakfast, drive south via the scenic Kawarau Gorge. First stop is at the excellent winery and restaurant at Gibbston Valley Wines. After lunch, continue south to Te Anau – it means rushing water in Maori, upon arrival transfer to Te Anau Lodge for check in and overnight, afternoon join the cruise to the Te Anau Glow-worm Caves. Enjoy your full day in Te Anau, the gateway to the Fiordland National Park. Enjoy the awesome small-boat cruise on the fiord with Cruise Milford includes countless waterfalls tumbling hundreds of meters down sheer cliffs, mountains rising straight out of the sea, fur seals and (usually) dolphins. Mitre Peak magnetises photographers, as does the cascading Bowen and Stirling Falls. Afterwards return to your hotel for your overnight. (B,L)

Te Anau - Queenstown
After breakfast, visit the pretty tree-lined town of Arrow town, another former gold mining settlement. Also visit the reconstructed Chinese Settlement, the Coronet Ski-field for fabulous views of the Wakatipu Basin and Shot over River. Then head into Queenstown - the Adventure Capital of the World. Evening enjoy the cruise across Lake Wakatipu. On arrival at Walter Peak Station, enjoy an entertaining show followed by a typical New Zealand fare ‘finale dinner’ at the Colonel’s Homestead. Transfer to Copthorne Lakeview hotel for check in and overnight. (B,D)
Sat, Dec 02
After breakfast, dress warmly and bring a swimsuit, towel then drive to Glenorchy at the far end of Lake Wakatipu. Enjoy a thrilling ride on a jet-boat, which will take you from Glenorchy along the Dart River into the very heart of the Mt Aspiring National Park with plenty of Lord of the Rings filming sites along the way. Then climb in to your “Funyaks” to paddle back down stream in the most serene place in the world you can imagine, stopping en route for a wilderness picnic lunch. Afterwards ride the Skyline Gondola and enjoy the sunset view. After dinner return to your hotel for overnight. (B,L,D)
