Jewels of Jordan Itinerary

Day 1
Meet at the Amman International Airport (arrivals between the hours of 8:00 AM
and 8:00 PM) or at the Syrian border and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2
Morning tour of Amman visiting the Roman Theater, the Citadel, the Archaeology
and the Folklore Museum, old and modern Amman, and one of the many art
galleries in this capital city. After an afternoon at leisure, visit the Kan
Zaman village for dinner, a folklore show and a preview of many handicraft
ateliers. Overnight in Amman.

Day 3
Drive to the lowest point on Earth and experience floating in the waters of
the Dead Sea. Continue north to Pella in the Jordan Valley and then on to Umm
Qais (Gedara of the Bible, Matthew 8:28-34) for a spectacular view of the Sea
of Galilee, the Yarmouk River and the Golan Heights. Return in the late
afternoon to Amman for your overnight.

Day 4
Noon departure for a tour of Jerash, the best preserved city from Roman times,
to visit its theaters, temples, churches, and colonnaded streets. Then
continue to Ajloun to tour the 12th century Saracen Castle built by Saladin in
the campaign against the Crusaders. Overnight in Amman.

Day 5
Drive south along the Kings' Highway to Petra, visiting Madaba, with the
oldest map of the Holy Land and its mosaic school, and Mt. Nebo, the alleged
burial site of Moses overlooking the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley. Then
drive through the magnigicent scenery of Wadi Mujib to Kerak to visit its
Crusader castle (stop for optional lunch). Overnight in Petra.

Day 6
A full day to visit the many sites of Petra, the city that was carved into the
rose red Sharah Mountains by the Nabateans. Walk through the Siq, a narrow and
winding fissure between the cliffs, to reach the Treasury, the Roman Theater,
the Courts, Qsar Bint Pharaoun, the Temple of the Winged Lion and other
monuments. A break for an optional lunch or you may wish to climb up to the
Monastery for a breathtaking view of Wadi Araba. Overnight in Petra.

Day 7
Visit the Wadi Rum desert (in a 4X4 vehicle) and its awesome moon-like
landscape. Return to Amman on the Desert Highway (stop en route for
an optional lunch). Overnight in Amman.

Day 8
Transfer to Amman International Airport, assistance with departure formalities
or transfer to Allenby Bridge for extension to Israel.
